Laser Scan Analyzer
1. Product Description
GouMax developed a proprietary LSA-200 module that allows you to build your
automatic data collection/analysis system by using GouMax TLS-1000 or your existing
tunable laser source.
Figure 1 and Figure 2 schematically show two configurations of single-channel LSA
(Laser Scan Analyzer) data collection/analysis systems by using GouMax’s Type A LSA-
200 modules. When the tunable laser (TLS) starts its wavelength scan, a START trigger
signal is sent to LSA-200 module to set time origin. After that, the tunable laser scans its
wavelength over the preset wavelength range. Inside LSA-200 module, the majority of the
laser light from the tunable laser is directed to Laser-Out port, and a small percent of the
laser beam is tapped out to a wavelength meter unit and a power meter (PM), which
creates the wavelength and power reference. The Laser-Out port is connected to device
under test (DUT), and the output from DUT is directed to the Spectrum-In port of LSA-
200 module, where there is a build-in photodetector or external detector to convert the
optical spectrum into electrical signal for dada collection and spectral analysis. Figure 1
shows the C/Full-band measurement using GouMax LSA-200 and TLS-1000 with single
trigger. Figure 2 shows the O/E-band measurement using GouMax LSA-200 and TLS-
1000 with two triggers.

2. Specifications
Master LSA-200 Full-band data collection/analysis module (Type A) with 11
configuration, internal or external photo-detector and wavelength reference unit is defined
in this section. It works standalone and provides wavelength reference, trigger signals and
frequency clock signal to Slave LSA-200 modules. Please refer Spec#5053 for Slave LSA-
200 modules.
